Leica has just announced that some of its cameras will be increasing in price for its Japanese customers. The company announced the news on its official Japanese website (https://store.leica-camera.jp/news/price_change_may2022) with no explanation for the price increases. There’s also no information yet if these price increases will be coming to other regions.
The full camera list affected by the price change has been posted online by Leica (https://store.leica-camera.jp/html/upload/save_image/pdf/20220510%20%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%82%AB%E8%A3%BD%E5%93%81%E4%BE%A1%E6%A0%BC%E6%94%B9%E5%AE%9A%E8%A1%A8.pdf). While it’s all in Japanese, we can identify a small number of cameras and the new prices for each. The list includes the following three cameras and a lot of others:
- Leica M11: 1,188,000 Yen to 1,232,000 Yen
- Leica SL2-S: 660,000 Yen to 693,000 Yen
- Leica Q2: 759,000 Yen to 792,000 Yen
The official notice from Leica states that the product price changes will come into effect on May 10th next month. After translating the notice, it reads that “products ordered from the Leica Online Store after May 10th (Tuesday) will be delivered at a new price”.
