TL:DR – The Flagship mirrorless from Nikon is something of an urban myth, but we do some key features about this hybrid body that could be the game changer Nikon need.
The Nikon Z9. The first full-frame (Nikon FX-format) mirrorless camera featuring the Z Mount, is scheduled for release in 2021, and Nikon claim it represents a significant leap in technology and performance.
It will utilise a newly developed FX-format, stacked CMOS sensor and new image-processing engine. In response to the growing needs of professionals, advanced enthusiasts and cinematographers, it also includes support for 8K video recording.
So it seems Nikon Flagship, slated for release this year is willing to go toe-to-toe with Canon & Sony in the mirrorless market, with catering for the ever demanding needs of ‘hybrid’ photo & video creators.
We’ve nothing firm yet on any more specs, just the normal slew of rumours and whispers. Also when it comes to pricing we’re still in the dark but it really will be interesting to see where Nikon pitch the Z9 in these increasingly hostile and competitive mirrorless marketplace.
