Panasonic Lumix S1H ii – Leaks, Specs, Price & Everything We Know

Everything we know so far about the Panasonic Lumix S1H Mii, Will we see 8k24p capture and built-in ND?

Announced officially in August of 2019, Panasonic’s Mark I S1H definitely took the lead for full-frame mirrorless video capture at the time of release, coming equipped with at-the-time mighty impressive 6k24p recording capabilities and a 24.2MP full-frame MOS sensor. Panasonic definitely delivered the features that filmmakers wanted – but it seems that they are willing to do so again with a Mark II version of the legendary S1H.

Specifications for the leaked Panasonic S1H II have been shared online through various platforms and show an impressive 34MP full-frame image sensor – upgraded tremendously from Mark I’s 24.2MP variant. And the most impressive feature leaked thus far is definitely the rumoured 8k24p capture capabilities. It seems definitely that one of the best 4K cameras may indeed get an 8K upgrade.

Panasonic S1H ii Rumoured Specs:

  • 24mp full frame sensor
  • 14+ stops Dynamic Range
  • Built-in eND (up to 8 stops)
  • 6.5 stops IBIS
  • V-Log included
  • Brand new DFD AF
  • 8K 24p 4:2:0 10-bit 600M
  • 6K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit 200M (cropped)
  • 6K 24p / 30p 4:2:2 10-bit 400M
  • C4K 60p 4:2:2 10-bit 400M
  • C4K 120p 4:2:2 10-bit 400M
  • 4K 180p 4:2:0 10-bit 200M
  • FHD 240p 4:2:2 10-bit 100M
  • FHD 300p 4:2:0 8-bit 50M
  • Note: recording in C4K will downsampled from 5.6K resolution.
  • Note: the built-in eND technology is similar to Z-Cam’s eND module add-on for the Z-Cam E2 6F, 6S and 8F. The transition from from stop to another won’t be smooth like the ones found in both the Sony FX9 and FX6.
  • A bit bulkier than the original S1H due to both improved built-in IBIS and eND.

It seems Panasonic is really trying hard to overthrow the previous leader of the full-frame mirrorless video capture that they themselves created, as the Lumix S1H II will, if the rumors are true, hold tremendous improvements over the Mark I variant.

It is still early days for the rumors however, and an estimated release date has not been generally accepted by the camera enthusiast community as of yet – but with more leaks coming underway this is soon to change.

The ability to capture at 8k24p is definitely the standout feature of the Lumix S1H II, capable of doing so thanks to a rumoured 34MP full-frame sensor. However, at the end of the day these rumoured specifications are purely speculative at this point, and thus should be taken with a pinch of salt.
